The Heart Behind Thankmas

I love Thanksgiving and Christmas! Give me all the decorations, traditions, family gatherings, and celebrations. But I've often wondered why Thanksgiving seems to get lost in all the excitement of Christmas. After all, shouldn't a heart of gratitude carry us right through the Christmas season?

For years, I've affectionately called this season Thankmas. It's my little play on words for thanking God more! And yes, I know Christmas comes from Christ's Mass, a celebration centered on Christ. My little nickname is simply a reminder to carry the gratitude of Thanksgiving into the celebration of our Savior's birth.

That's the heart behind Thankmas and my prayer for you as you walk through these 35 days. May you spend time in God's Word, reflect on His goodness, rejoice in His promises, and prepare your heart to celebrate the greatest Gift of all, Jesus Christ.
